Dr. Maleki obtained his medical degree from McMaster University, followed by dual postgraduate training in ophthalmology and oculoplastic surgery. Since becoming Canadian board certified in 2009, Dr. Maleki has been extremely prolific and passionate about making advancements in eyelid surgery. Over the past decade, Dr. Maleki has performed over 15,000 eyelid procedures on his own, including but not limited to ptosis repair, blepharoplasty (lid lift), brow lift, removal of under eye bags, removal of eyelid tumors, management of Thyroid Eye Disease (Grave’s orbitopathy) and correction of eyelid malpositions.
In 2010, he was recruited to Dalhousie University to establish an oculoplastic surgery program providing solo service to all 4 provinces in Atlantic Canada. In addition to his passion for surgery, Dr. Maleki is also passionate about teaching. As director of postgraduate training program in oculoplastics at Dalhousie University, Dr. (https://santaclaritalanes.com/) Maleki has trained over 40 medical residents and students in ophthalmology, ENT, maxillofacial surgery and plastic surgery. In 2015, he joined the faculty at the University of Toronto and continues to serve the academic community in Toronto.
At a national level, Dr. Maleki pioneered and developed an interactive course to teach ophthalmologists across Canada techniques in oculoplastic surgery. Internationally, he has also taught oculoplastics as part of ORBIS, a global charitable non-profit organization that provides free surgery for underserved populations worldwide as well as training for local doctors.
Highly respected by his peers, Dr. Maleki has served as past-president of the Canadian Society of Oculoplastic Surgery. He remains an active member of the same society as well as a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Canadian Ophthalmology Society. He is also president-elect of the Toronto Ophthalmology Society and serves as a journal reviewer for the Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology for his expertise in oculoplastic surgery.
In 2016, Dr. Maleki joined Dr. Oestreicher at Toronto Eyelid Surgery, a leading center in Canada for ophthalmic plastic surgery and cosmetic laser eyelid surgery. Toronto Eyelid Surgery has become a center of excellence for lid surgery including a referral center for cosmetic plastic surgeons with difficult and “redo” cases as well as patients seeking a second opinion. It was honor for Dr. Maleki to become medical director of the clinic in 2018 and continue its mission of being a center of excellence for cosmetic and reconstructive eyelid surgery.

Simer is a graduate from the University of Toronto with a Bachelors in Science. She completed the Mohawk-McMaster nursing program and has been working as a surgical nurse since 2015.
Simer manages the operating room and works alongside Dr. Maleki as the surgical assistant. She oversees patients pre and post operatively undergoing surgery and provides patient care.
With her love for beauty and a detailed eye, Simer completed the Botulinum Toxin and Dermal Filler certificate at APT Medical Aesthetics school. Simer is knowledgeable and well-trained in providing non-surgical cosmetic procedures such as botox injections, dermal fillers, microneedling and platelet rich plasma (PRP).
