Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatment

ACHIEVE RADIANT, EVEN-TONED SKIN WITH IPL THERAPY

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy—often called a photofacial—is a non-invasive treatment that uses high-intensity light to target and treat sun damage, pigmentation, broken capillaries, and overall skin discoloration.

At Aesthetic Lounge by Dr. Maleki, we offer customized IPL treatments to brighten skin, even tone, and restore clarity—often as part of long-term skin maintenance or surgical recovery protocols.

What is IPL Photofacial Treatment?

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is a broad-spectrum light treatment that penetrates the skin to target unwanted pigment, redness, and vascular irregularities. Unlike lasers that use a single wavelength, IPL uses multiple wavelengths, making it more versatile for treating a variety of skin concerns.

The light energy is absorbed by melanin (pigment) and hemoglobin (blood vessels), breaking them down naturally over time while stimulating collagen production in the process.

What Does IPL Treat?

IPL is ideal for patients dealing with:

  • Sun spots / age spots
  • Freckles and hyperpigmentation
  • Rosacea and facial redness
  • Broken capillaries and spider veins
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Dull or sun-damaged skin

IPL treatment is best suited for lighter skin tones (Fitzpatrick I–III); alternatives are offered for deeper skin tones.

What to Expect During Your IPL Treatment?

Before Treatment
The skin is cleansed and prepped. No numbing is required for most patients, but it can be applied for sensitive areas.

During Treatment
You’ll wear protective eyewear. As the device pulses light into the skin, you’ll feel a warm snapping sensation—similar to a rubber band.

After Treatment
Mild redness and warmth may last a few hours. Dark spots may temporarily darken (“pepper”) before flaking off over 5–7 days. Most patients resume normal activities right away.

IPL is most commonly performed on the face, neck, chest, and hands. Many patients see noticeable improvement after just one session. For more significant sun damage or redness, a series of 3–4 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart is recommended. Results continue to improve over time as collagen production increases and pigmentation clears.

Book your consultation today and discover how a series of IPL photofacials can gently erase the signs of time and sun—revealing the clear, even glow beneath.
